TOTO's story
Toto was surrendered to the shelter due to the previous owner unable to care for him any longer. According to the previous owner Toto is mushing trained, but lacks stamina. The previous owner also says that Toto does well with dogs, and has been around children. Toto is not housebroken, has lived his entire life outside.
UPDATE: Toto was returned to the shelter after 7 days in his most recent owner's home; Toto was kept as a house dog and did relatively well for having been primarily an outdoor dog his entire life. Toto's most recent owners indicated that they did take him on runs, but it did not appear to be adequate stimulation for him as he did not seem to be happy and was exhibiting some anxious behaviours. Toto would do best in a home that can use him on a recreational team that goes primarily shorter distances, as a skijor dog, or in a very active home that wants to take him on multiple runs a day, or on hikes, etc. Toto is a sociable and friendly boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and may enjoy being a partner to another mushing type dog. Toto does not have experience with chidlren or babies, but loves adults! He has not lived with cats or small animals, and may chase them. Toto did fairly well at pottying outside in his most recent home, whining and going to the door when he needed to use the bathroom. Toto will jump on counters, people, over fences, get into the garbage and dig and chew, since he does not have indoor manners. Toto is still a young boy and may learn to be an indoor dog, but it will take work and dedication!
