CHENA Alaskan Malamute Senior Female for sale in Coldfoot, Alaska

CHENA's story
Chena was surrendered to the shelter because she was slowly becoming aggressive when playing with the other dog in the home, and was becoming intolerant of children. Her owner did not feel that she could be trusted around other dogs or children, and that she could become overly protective. Chena was then adopted to a home for 2 days and seriously injured a cat. While at the shelter, Chena was temperament tested and evaluated by the shelter veterinarian to see if her behavior in her previous home could be related to a medical issue. Chena did well in her temperament test with adults, but is not good with children, dogs or cats. Chena CAN NOT go to a home without small dogs or cats, or children.
Chena is quite overweight, and as she gets older this may be putting strain on her joints that may be causing her discomfort and thus making her less tolerant towards active/playful dogs, and children. At this time, it is recommended that Chena go on a strict diet to help her lose weight, and her new family should engage her in regular light exercise so as not to overextend her until she is more fit. Chena''s new family is encouraged to use the free vet exam coupon that comes with their adoption packet to work with their regular vet on a plan for her continued health and maintenance as she ages. Chena is a sweet girl who enjoys interacting with her family and going for trots outside. She is a typical malemute with a strong personality and distinct ideas. Chena is hoping for the perfect family that can help get her back to her ideal weight, and incorporate this giant floof peacefully into a loving home as the only pet.
