Leif Eriksson came to the shelter as a stray in pretty rough shape. During his stay at the shelter he has been seen by the vet for his injuries. Leif is still healing, but is doing well, his new owners will need to keep an eye on his wound on his cheek and make sure it doesn''t become infected. Leif has many scabs, scratches and scrapes throughout his body and came to the shelter very matted. Leif has been shaved and cleaned up and has been friendly and easy to handle. Due to unknown behavior history and based on the amount of scars, it is assumed that Leif will not do well being introduced to other pets. From our observations in the shelter, we recommend that Leif Eriksson do not go to a home with cats or small dogs. It is also unknown how Leif will do around children.
Leif was returned to the shelter after a week in his new home because he was spraying. Having most likely been an outside cat his whole life Leif will have to learn how to use his litterbox. Keeping Leif in a small, enclosed room for a week or two may help him begin to feel comfortable and not spray.
